Four of the strongest teams in Asia have already qualified for the knockout stage of the men’s cricket tournament at the 2026 Asian Games. India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have been given direct qualification to the quarterfinals due to their status as top seeds for the event taking place in Aichi-Nagoya in Japan.
As per the official tournament draw which was out on July 23, these four teams are to receive a bye straight through the quarterfinals with eight other nations battling for the final four knockout spots in a qualifying round.
Qualifying Round Format
The Qualifier Round for the tournament has six teams, which will be split into two groups. Men’s Cricket At The 2023 Asian Games | Group Stage: Afghanistan, the runners-up from the men’s cricket event at the 2023 Asian Games have topped Group A, in which they will take on Japan and Nepal. Malaysia, Oman and Hong Kong, China make up Group B.
Teams in each group will face each of the other sides once. The top two teams from each bucket will go through to the quarters, where they will take on the four seeded countries.
Women’s Cricket Draw Confirmed

Sri Lanka play Malaysia and Bangladesh open their campaign against the People’s Republic of China in other matches.
India Eye Another Golden Campaign
India comes into the tournament with expectations following golds in men’s and women’s cricket at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. Now the heavyweight champions of the void intentionalism, they are among the favorites to battle and defend both titles in Japan after dominant performances within this edition.
Women’s cricket’s tournament is due to take place from September 17-22, 2026 with the men’s competition taking place over seven days from September 24 – October 1 in 2026.
The event will feature some nationally rising nations of cricket looking to prove a point against the traditional powerhouses and offers up thrilling matches in wait. But as India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have qualified without the fears of the preliminary rounds, they are sure to enter their battles in pristine readiness for the knockout jousts.
